24V Drill Battery

24V drills are trusted companions for professionals in the construction industry and DIY enthusiasts. But these powerful tools won’t be of any use without their battery packs that give them the energy they need to go head on with heavy drilling and boring tasks. That is why it is very important to take good care of those batteries for them to last longer and be more useful for a very long time.

And here are some tips that you can do to prevent those very important source of power for your precious tools from giving out at the wrong time while your in the middle of an important job or project.

When you first buy your 24V cordless drill, make sure that you are able to completely charge the battery to make it last longer and improve its quality. Most people make a huge mistake by charging them up for only ten to 15 minutes. This actually lowers the life of the battery. Manufacturers actually recommend a full charge the first time you use your power drill because the battery has a memory. If not charged completely the first time, the battery’s memory will consider that a full charge. So every time you charge up the battery packs, it will only be charged to that point and it won’t last as long as it should have if it was charged full the first time. That is why a good advice is that as soon as you take your brand new 24V cordless drill out of the packaging, charge it following the instructions written in the manual that it comes with.

If your battery runs out, it is very important to charge it again completely to keep them strong and improve its performance. The best way to tell if your battery is already fully-charged is by looking at the light located on the charger. Most battery charger has a light that turns from red to green when the battery is all juiced up. When the light is red, it means that the battery is charging. But when it turns into green, that means that the charger has cut off and your battery pack is fully charged and ready to be used again for more drilling and boring.

Another way to improve the performance of your drill and lengthen the life of your battery is by regularly cleaning the battery contacts. Make sure that there are no dirt and shavings in the contacts. Batteries usually have two contacts, one negative and one positive. Using a soft, clean rug to clean away any dust or debris from the contacts will go a long way when it comes to taking care of your precious tool. Make sure that your cordless drill contacts are also clean of debris.

You can also improve the quality and performance of your 24V cordless drill by upgrading the 24V batteries that came with it. Most manufacturers sell battery packs, and you can purchase one as an alternate for the ones you already have. This way, you can save up time by being able to work while another set of batteries are charging. With this, you can also lengthen the longevity of your batteries because the abuse will be put into will be at a minimum and wear and tear will come much later on. Lithium batteries are also advisable because they last longer and does not need so much charging that can actually ruin the battery. Thus, you can also do more work with them with less charging.

It is very important to take good care of your tools, especially those that are very expensive and hard to replace. Besides, these power tools such as your 24V cordless drills is a very important part of your profession or hobby. That is why making sure that they will last long is a very important thing to do.
